As a leader of the Nation of Islam and afterward the New Black Panther Party, Khalid Abdul Muhammad rose to notoriety. Harold Moore Jr. was born in Houston, Texas, on January 12, 1948, to Harold Moore Sr. and Lottie B. Moore.
Muhammad attended Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana after graduating from high school. In 1970, while in university, he heard a speech by Louis Abdul Farrakhan, a national representative of Nation of Islam (NOI) leader Elijah Muhammad. The future leader was persuaded by the speech to join the Nation of Islam. Muhammad would later become Farrakhan’s protege, assisting in the recruitment of new Nation members.
Muhammad would give countless speeches, radio interviews, and television appearances in which he would communicate his thoughts and goals for African-Americans in the United States. Although the activist died on February 17, 2001, his remarks continue to resonate with thousands of people throughout the world.
Here are some of Khalid Abdul Muhammad’s quotes:
1. “Black people have been robbed… of a knowledge of self… they start to take on the characteristics and the nature of their oppressor and colonizer and his mind by the automatic systematic remote-control rule of our people.”
– Khalid Abdul Muhammad
2. “The white race is absolutely disagreeable to get along with in peace. No other people on the face of the earth have been able to get along with white people since white people have been on our planet.”
– Khalid Abdul Muhammad
3. “Some people have said Brother Khalid was a villain, but we know he was a victim in a world that is evil. Racism and injustice are the real villains here.”
– Khalid Abdul Muhammad
4. “I say you call yourself Goldstein, Silverstein, and Rubinstein because you’re stealing all the gold and silver and rubies all over the earth – and it’s true, because of your thieving and stealing and roguing, and lying all over the face of the planet earth.”
– Khalid Abdul Muhammad
