7-Year-Old Who Saved A Drowning Toddler In Pool Is Hailed Hero After the 6ft Dive

A 7-year-old boy from Sacramento is being praised for his bravery after swimming down a deep pool to save a drowning toddler. The incident occurred at an apartment complex where Massiah Browne lives, according to ABC News.

The second-grader and his family were swimming at the pool when he noticed the toddler was submerged. “I was just playing in the pool when I noticed a boy at the bottom,” Massiah told Good Morning America. “So I went to get him.”

At the time of the incident, the second-grade student was swimming with a 9-year-old relative. Tiara Delvalle, his mother, said her son swam six feet down to pull the toddler to the surface of the water. She stated she rushed to the pool after learning of the incident.

Massiah said he swam down to save the 3-year-old boy after noticing him submerged with his mouth and eyes open. His 9-year-old cousin moved the minor to the pool deck after he managed to pull the toddler to the surface of the pool. They were later assisted by adults before calling 911.

“Savannah [Massiah’s 9-year-old cousin] brought him to his mom, and then they did CPR on the boy and called the doctor,” Massiah recalled.

According to a Sacramento Fire Department spokesperson, the toddler was breathing when first responders arrived at the apartment complex pool. According to the spokesperson, bystanders at the pool performed CPR on the toddler before first responders arrived.

“The child was transported in critical condition, with Sacramento firefighters providing advanced life support efforts,” the spokesperson added.

Delvalle stated that the toddler is fine and that she has been in contact with his mother. “A miracle,” she exclaimed.

Marcus Browne, Massiah’s father, also praised his son. Even though his 7-year-old is an excellent swimmer, he was taken aback when he learned of his heroism.

“I couldn’t believe it,” Browne exclaimed. “He’s a nice kid.”
