A ban has been placed on 13 countries and they include; United States of America, United Kingdom, Japan, China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Spain, France, Germany, Norway, Netherlands and Switzerland have been restricted from entering into Nigeria. This is to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus in the country. This was announced by the Federal Government.
There has also been a temporal suspension of visa on arrival.
Boss Mustapha who is the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Task Force for the Control of Covid-19, announced in a short meeting on Wednesday the 18th, March 2020.
He said: “The restriction will come into effect from Saturday for 4 weeks, subject to review”. This is because these countries has recorded over 1000 cases domestically.
“All persons arriving in Nigeria who might have visited these countries 15 days prior to such arrival will be subjected to supervised self-isolation and testing for 14 days” SGF said. The government has also warned Nigerians to terminate or postpone any travels that aren’t necessary to these countries.
