Veteran actress Taraji P. Henson stated in a recent interview for the PEOPLE Every Day podcast that she is “seriously considering” leaving the United States because the challenging political and social climate is taking a toll on her.
Henson, 51, said, “I’m seriously thinking about getting up out of here, leaving, and living in another country. “You become tired of arguing; that’s something that comes with being older. I’m worn out.
The Hidden Figures actress responded that the “pressures of being Black” and the ongoing struggle for social justice in the United States had had an impact on her. I simply don’t want to use another hashtag. I protested, I yelled, and I marched. She said, “I’m exhausted.
The 51-year-old also believes that living abroad won’t be all that difficult. Henson declared, “I want to go where there is neutral ground. “I just want to be. And rejoice. Every day I want to be addressed as “Bella,” sip wine, and swat flies off the porch. Stress-free.”
Henson said that when she approached her fifties, her perspective on life and state of mind shifted. “When you turn 50, something strange happens: all of your f—s are behind you. I’ve accomplished a lot and I’m going to do what I want to do,” she said.
“I can now declare, “I quit, I’m going to go travel the world,’” since I’ve reached that stage in my career. It’s very liberating.
Henson also revealed that she intends to take a girl’s trip abroad after her BET hosting gig, albeit she hasn’t yet packed her bags and luggage.
“Mary [J. Blige] and I have tried for so long to go on this vacation, but our schedules just keep getting insane. Look, enough is enough, I need a vacation, I simply informed her.
