In what seems to be a shocker for many Americans, 43-year-old musician, Kanye West, on Saturday, independence day, announced that he will be running for the office of the President of the United States.
In a tweet, he said “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States.”
He used the hashtag #2020Vision
Although this might sound funny to some people, Kanye West got the backing of tech engineer and Billionaire, Elon Musk. The Tesla CEO, replied to Kanye West’s tweet saying, “You have my full support!”
Kim Kardashian, Kanye’s wife, quote-tweeted her husband’s big announcement with the American Flag.
Twitter was buzzing, with many calling the announcement a publicity stunt, while others questioned why Kanye West went from being a vocal supporter of President Trump to announcing to run against him.
They suggested that it might be an attempt to draw Black voters and young voters away from the Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
One oustanding remains that Kanye West has not filed with the Federal Election Commission or created a campaign committe, and this is just 4 months to the elections.
