Meghan Mccain Attacks Whoopi Goldberg: Meghan McCain left “The View” in August of last year after four tumultuous years on the show. Unlike many of her discussions with fellow co-hosts about immigration and politics, however, the lone conservative’s leave was peaceful, with no frills or fuss–at least from her perspective.
McCain seems to have a lot to say about her tenure on the show, her exit, and her co-hosts, Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, in her upcoming biography “Bad Republican.”
In an excerpt seen by Variety, the former daytime host blamed her departure on a “toxic work climate” that included co-hosts, Goldberg and Behar.
McCain said she had “a lot of nice memories on the program,” but added, “I’m not going to dish on every bit of drama that I witnessed, I had a lot of good experiences on the show, and it was an honor to be a part of such an iconic piece of TV history.”
“And yeah, I realize that most careers in television are stressful, since they’re in a pressure-cooker situation, and that’s to be expected,” she continued, before accusing the show of bringing out “the worst in people.”
McCain went on to accuse the “Ghost” actress, alleging she broke a promise she made to her father, the late John McCain, in which Goldberg allegedly vowed to “take care of” the author. The 36-year-old only claimed to have “kept her word” for two years.
“The problem about Whoopi is that she has so much influence in culture and on television that when she turns on you, it can create inexplicable tension at the table,” she wrote.
“As the years passed, I found her obvious contempt for me more difficult to bear as it got more regular. If the show’s political discussion wandered into territory she didn’t agree with, Whoopi would cut me off, often rudely.”
Goldberg and Behar “became meaner and less forgiving” as former President Trump’s tenure progressed, she wrote elsewhere. McCain claimed that her co-stars began to regard her as “an embodiment for everything they despise about the president.”
The issue with Joy Behar…
She also discussed her tumultuous relationship with Behar, including a memorable exchange the two had after a debate.
“Joy, you missed me so much when I was on maternity leave!” McCain exclaimed on television. You haven’t fought with me in a long time!” “I did not,” Behar said in response. I didn’t miss you at all. Zero.”
“Nothing anyone has ever said to me on TV since I’ve been doing interviews since I’ve been 22 years old has ever hit me this hard,” McCain wrote.
“I felt like I’d been slapped,” she continued. I believed her when she yelled at me sharply and vehemently.”
People on social media, on the other hand, were ready to remind McCain of her indiscretion, which contributed to her bittersweet experience.
Social Media Reactions:
“How about all the times we, the audience, and her co-hosts, gasped dramatically and audibly when she insulted Joy on air?” “How are you expected to miss that?” says the narrator. According to one Twitter user.
“No self-awareness from this one,” said another. And I can’t believe Meghan McCain showed up at Whoopi Goldberg’s house. Whoopi? WHOOPI???
Whoopi ran defense for MM for years after she destroyed all her other @TheView bridges, until it became impossible. ‘ByeAgainBitch,’ ‘TheView,’ ‘ByeAgainBitch,’ ‘B
“Meghan McCain Reveals Everything About ‘The View’s’ Toxic Work Environment,” but Meghan… you were the toxicity you’re complaining about.
“Meghan McCain is what happens when you don’t need self-awareness or accountability to survive in the world because your privilege and wealth take care of everything.”
The insanity of labeling Whoopi and Joy as toxic after she screamed at them in front of us for years.”
