Nigerian American Julius Onah To Direct ‘Captain America 4’, According To Reports

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nigerian-American filmmaker Julius Onah will direct the fourth installment of the Captain America film franchise for Marvel Studios.

Following the storyline of the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie will reprise his role as Sam Wilson, who takes up the shield as the next Captain America.

Onah is best known for directing The Cloverfield Paradox, a popular Netflix sci-fi thriller, and Luce, a social thriller. Samo Lives, a biopic about the life of Haitian Puerto Rican artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, was recently co-written by the Nigerian American. According to Ebony.com, Onah is also set to direct the college admissions thriller Bad Genius.

Born in Markurdi, Nigeria, Onah moved around the world due to a diplomat parent before settling in the United States, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

He first gained attention as a filmmaker while a student at NYU, when Spike Lee executive produced his thesis film.

According to reports, the fourth “Captain America” film is being co-written by Malcolm Spellman, the creator and head writer of Winter Soldier, and Dalan Musson, a staff writer on the show.
